An aside: bread rationing

I’ve spent much of the last year concentrating on First World War projects, but I’m now doing some research for a TV company on a Second World War related series, focusing on the Home Front. In the course of this I discovered some surprising facts about food rationing. The most surprising was that bread was never rationed during the war years, but went on the ration in 1946. Post-war austerity indeed….
