An update: on current projects

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’ve had lots of First World War work this year, not surprisingly given the huge amount of interest in, and projects to mark, the centenary. Quite a few have come to fruition in the last month or so and I hope you’ll forgive me a brief rundown.

  • Text editor for the new First World War galleries at the Imperial War Museum (IWM), which opened on 19 July
  • Researcher/coordinator for the IWM on their fantastic World War at Home collaboration with the BBC which can be found here:
  • Researcher for the IWM on their joint project with ITV – The Great War: the People’s Story, of which two episodes have so far been broadcast *
  • Researcher for the IWM-backed Lives of the First World War project, a highly ambitious and fascinating project to build a digital memorial to everyone who served:
  • Curator for HQS Wellington‘s temporary exhibition Hospital + Troop Ships: Transporting the Walking & the Wounded in the First World War, which opened on 10 August. The exhibition runs until next spring and can be found on the ship which is moored on the Thames close to Temple tube.

* opinions divide on whether it should be First World War, or World War One – the IWM went with the former, the BBC with the latter. And ITV have used The Great War…. I’m firmly in the First World War camp
